Security Protective Coatings, Inc. Heat Welded Vinyl Systems
For vinyl on metal roofs, a starter strip of 2x4's is attached around the perimeter and screwed into the metal. A new fascia is also attached.
Insulation filler strips are laid between the ribs to match the rib height. Then 4x8 sheets of efficient urethane insulation board are attached with special screws and plates. The average added insulation value would be approximately R-14

The edge of each sheet is attached with barbed plates and "high-load" screws throught the insulation into the top of the ribs.
The next sheet of vinyl is rolled out over the plates and screws of the previous sheet, and the seam is permanently "hot-air welded" with a robot welder. Speed and temperature of the efficient welder are set for the climatic and job conditions for a permenant weld that can not be pulled apart.
A hand held welder is used for detail work where the robot welder is not practical.
Penetration stacks are secured with a pre-made factory boot that is friction fit over the pipe and heat welded to the field membrane.
The finished roof system gives the owner a durable, long lasting roof. Because snow and ice do not adhere to the vinyl there is never a build-up at the roof edge. The added insulation will also allow for an eventual payback of the new roof.
Unlike most other contractors, we anchor all screws and plates into the "top" of the ribs where the metal is strongest.
